Families of current eighth graders have had a wild ride this year! Both public and private high school admissions have been particularly stressful and unpredictable, and many families are wondering what happens next. We invite all families of current eighth graders to join us for a webinar to demystify the rest of their admissions process, including: 

  • What to expect when public school admissions results come out in June
  • How public school waitlists work
  • Next steps if you’re not happy with any of your public school offers
  • How to decide between multiple school options (independent, general education public, LaGuardia, SHSAT schools, and charters)

You’ll walk away with a clear sense of what to expect over the next several weeks and months, with practical tips for matching with a school that aligns with your family’s goals. You’ll also have the chance to ask all of your burning questions during a live Q&A. 

This webinar will be co-presented by:

  • Whitney Shashou, founder of Admit NY and middle/high school admissions expert. After several years as a teacher, Whitney served as the High School Placement Director for Breakthrough New York; there, she served as the primary contact for over 100 independent day and boarding schools. These days, Whitney is Admit NY’s lead middle and high school admissions consultant, partnering with families each year to achieve their admissions goals. 
  • Katie Miller, a New York public school admissions expert. Katie has been advocating for parents and children in public school education for 13 years, ever since her now-12th grader began kindergarten at PS 87 on the Upper West Side. As the founder of Katherine Miller Consulting, Katie works closely with NYC students and families to find their path through public school admissions.

Will we receive a webinar recording? 
In order to encourage live attendance, we do not distribute webinar recordings. 
Oh okay, then I really need to attend! Could I get a refund if I can’t make it? 
At this time, we do not allow refunds for our webinars. Please sign up if you’re sure you’ll be able to attend live! 
Will the webinar include a live Q&A?
Yes! Each webinar will include time for questions from attendees. Questions can be asked anonymously, if you’d prefer. 
How frequently do you host webinars? 
We’ll offer a small number of webinars in the spring/summer in the admissions “off season.” As the admissions season ramps up in the fall and winter, we’ll host webinars more frequently, likely several each month on a variety of topics. 
How can I find a webinar for my child’s age group? 
We hold webinars that cater to specific age groups (nursery, kindergarten, and middle/high school). We’ll usually hold multiple webinars on each topic, one webinar per age group. Check the webinar title for that event’s age group!
